Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the ZT111 and ZT231?
Both are 4-inch industrial printers with metal frames. The ZT111 is the value model with a plastic enclosure, 5 status LEDs and a 3-button keypad, at 10 in/s. The ZT231 adds a metal enclosure, a color touch screen and 12 in/s.
What label sizes fit?
Media from 0.75 to 4.50 in wide, printed up to 4.09 in wide at 203 dpi, with labels as long as 157 in. Common sizes include 4 x 6, 4 x 4 and 4 x 2 in.
What roll and core sizes fit?
Rolls up to 8 in outer diameter on 3 in cores, or 6 in on 1 in cores. That means far fewer roll changes than a desktop printer.
What ribbons does it take?
Ribbons up to 1,476 ft (450 m) long on 1 in cores, 2 to 4.33 in wide.
What connectivity does it have?
USB 2.0, RS-232 Serial, 10/100 Ethernet, USB Host and Bluetooth Low Energy come standard. An 802.11ac Wi-Fi card and a second Ethernet card are field-installable.
Which programming languages does it support?
ZPL and ZPL II, compatible with all Zebra printers, plus EPL 2 on 203 dpi models and optional ZBI 2.0.
What warranty does it have?
Zebra warrants the ZT111 against defects in workmanship and materials for 1 year from shipment. Zebra OneCare plans extend coverage to 3 years and can add accidental damage.
What print resolutions does the Zebra ZT111 come in?
The Zebra ZT111 comes in 203 dpi and 300 dpi. This page lists the 203 dpi models. See Zebra ZT111 — 300 dpi Models.
Should I choose 203 dpi or 300 dpi?
203 dpi (8 dots/mm) is the standard for shipping labels, barcodes and most product labels. 300 dpi (12 dots/mm) prints sharper small text, small barcodes, 2D codes and logos, so it suits small labels such as electronics, healthcare and jewelry labels. 600 dpi (24 dots/mm) is for very small, high-detail labels.
